Now, don’t get me wrong. I’m not a beauty guru, nor do I plan on becoming one. But I still thought it would be fun to share my favorite products. I had my “wild” beauty phase in my early 20s (“wild” means I wore lipstick regularly and eagerly tried new skincare products on a monthly basis), but that ship has sailed (well, the 20s not quite yet – thank God).
Sometime during the last couple of years when my husband and I started living more environmental and health-oriented, I decided to ditch conventional cosmetics and only use natural products. I started with my creams and cleansers and then worked my way into my makeup. I have to admit, for some products it wasn’t easy to find a natural alternative that performed the way I wanted. But here are my tried and most trusted products:
Weleda Almond cream for combination skin. I cannot count how many tubes I have used up of this. It’s that good. Moisturizing without being oily (something I encountered for example with some Dr. Hauschka creams). Promises nothing fancy. But delivers. Simply a good all-around cream that completely justifies two-word-sentences.
Antipodes Juliet Brightening Cleanser. I think I’m on my 4th bottle of this. Quite pricey, but you don’t need a lot, so it lasts rather long (about 6 months for me and I use it morning and night). A good overall cleanser, although I wouldn’t use it exclusively to take of a full face of makeup.
Pure Skin Food Oil for all skin types with chia, apricot, and macadamia. I purchased this as a treat in January and it’s wonderful. I add two drops to my cream and it acts as a nice booster. I think this will be even more awesome in the winter months. It seems though that they have changed their product line, so I can’t link to the exact product I use. Judging from the ingredients this oil for normal and sensitive skin seems to come closest.
Nuxe Reve de Miel. Again, I don’t remember how many jars I have bought. My guess is 5 or 6. The jar is quite long-lasting, although I only use it about twice per day, so I’m not strictly a heavy user. I love it so much because it is really soothing and moisturizing. Perfect for in the morning and before bed. If you haven’t tried this, you might be put off by the consistency – I certainly was when I first used it. It’s thick and a little grainy. But it simply delivers, all-year-around.
Lily Lolo Eyebrow Powder in light. The most difficult item to find, because most natural make-up brands don’t offer matte eyeshadows – a thing that is beyond my understanding. Once I came around this product, I was hooked. Truly matte and the perfect color for me.
